This Melted Ice Cream Hot Chocolate is so luscious and creamy, that it could very well be considered dessert.Yes, it’s time for a splurge.  It’s a bit naughty, true, but oh so nice too.  Not long ago my friend and I were chatting about a new bakery that opened up near our office.  It’s a lovely bakery that has so many unique European baked goods.  Luscious lattes made with love.

Always with my wheels spinning, I couldn’t help but think of ways to make a latte or a cocoa even more decadent.

This Melted Ice Cream Hot Chocolate is so luscious and creamy, that it could very well be considered dessert.When you make this hot chocolate using ice cream, you may never opt for another regular hot chocolate ever again.  I highly recommend using dutch process cocoa for this recipe. Dutch process cocoa has a smoother, more mellow flavor that’s often associated with earthy, woodsy notes and is darker than natural cocoa.

Make this special hot chocolate for a special treat any time of the year.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup dutch processed cocoa
  • pinch of sea salt
Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk with the sugar and a pinch of salt and cook over moderate heat, whisking, until the sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes. Whisk in the cocoa powder until incorporated. Add the ice cream and cook over moderate heat, whisking, until smooth and hot, about 3 minutes. Ladle the chocolate into mugs
