Yesterday I made my first ever apple pie. Now I know that apple pie is definitely not weight watchers friendly, but I never made one before and it was on my bucket list. But what I do want to share with you is what you can do with the apple peel.
Be Prepared: Get into the habit of saving (rather than composting) your orange peels, lemon and lime peels, and apple and pear skins.
Let your imagination be the guide. This is also a great way to make your kitchen smell like you have been baking all day. Do this before guests arrive, this is better than any scented candle.
- one or 2 Cinnamon sticks
- Apple peels
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 or 2 Whole cloves
- Fill a small saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Add all the ingredients and continue to boil for a few minutes, then turn the heat down to simmer. Add water as needed, usually every 30 minutes or so.
I hope you enjoy this non-recipe! I transferred mine into this fondue pot, but you certainly don’t need to do that.
Enjoy your day!
