French Toast in a Mug

French Toast in a Mug 004Okay so we haven’t even had Thanksgiving yet, but I bought the cutest mugs yesterday and I wanted to use them so bad.  Aren’t they just adorable?

Actually, the hubby and I bought so much Christmas decorations that we might be swimming in it.  We went to The Decor Store in Livermore.  They had an open house for their Christmas Decorations.  It’s a huge warehouse filled with unique Christmas items..  Our day wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Home Goods store in San Ramon.  That’s where I bought these cute mugs.

This morning I decided to make some French toast from the rolls that were left over.

You can actually make French toast in a mug in less than 2 minutes.  The key to using a mug is all about portion control.

I suggest you use a soft French roll rather than slice bread so you can have thicker cubes

Here is what you need

Serves 2

6 PP per serving

  • 1 Tablespoon butter, divided
  • Three slices of day old bread, cubed
  • 3 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Lite syrup ( really needed, but you will need to add 1 PP per Tablespoon)

Rub the inside of your mug with the butter.  Leave the rest of the butter at the bottom of the mug.

Add the cubed bread to each mug.

In a separate bowl, mix the egg, milk, cinnamon and vanilla.

Pour half the mixture into each mug and smoosh the bread around to get it all “wet”.

Place in your microwave for about 1 minute 20 seconds.

Serve with syrup.

  1. 1. I love those mugs.
    2. I am going to pin this recipe to make it when I have a guilt free meal planned.
    3. I really like your mugs.
    4. I wonder if I can make it clean by using coconut butter instead of regular & using whole wheat bread. hhhmmm….

    • Marisol: I love the mugs too “). Thanks for pinning it 🙂 and Lastly, I made another batch using honey instead of butter, and I used whole wheat sliced bread and it turned out great. I am thinking one egg per mug though. Otherwise it will get dry. And you know your microwave better so 1 minutes 20 seconds might be over done.
