I revealed yesterday that I was cooking up a ghoulish dinner for the family. I wanted to make something that was quick and fun for Halloween night. After all, we needed to make sure we were all done with dinner before all our little “boos” and “ghouls” arrived.
I concocted a dish of Pumpkins and Bloody Fingers
Ingredients
- hamburger patties
- buns
- reduced fat cheddar cheese
- pumpkin cookie cutter
Directions
Grill your ground beef patties. Meanwhile take your cheddar cheese slices and use your pumpkin cookie cutter to cut out the shape of a pumpkin.
I was playing around with other ideas for the pumpkin, and as you can see,
I made a not so ghoulish pumpkin using one olive cut in half lengthwise and a piece of red bell pepper.
I was thinking, after the fact, that you could put a shredded lettuce on the bottom half of the burger to make it look like the pumpkin is sitting on a patch of grass. Oh well, maybe next time.
For the bloody fingers, I baked some sweet potato fries and dabbled a bit of BBQ sauce on them. It would have been better if I had ketchup, but alas, there was no ketchup to be found in my kitchen. Whoever used the last of it, well, lets just say it never made it to the grocery list that is kept on the fridge.
I know I could have made them look bloodier, but I had to eat them after all, and well, I don’t like BBQ sauce on my fries.
I hope you had a Halloween filled with treats and maybe a few tricks too.
